Exam For Accreditation
To be recognised and insured in the industry you must complete an accredited course. This exam can be taken only once you have completed the Kim Lawless Masterclass.
Hello! I want to be completely transparent with you all. Earlier this year, I considered stopping the accreditation exam, and here’s why. Hardly anyone was passing first time - not because they were bad waxers, but because many were sending in videos of them waxing their usual way instead of demonstrating my technique. Each video takes me over two hours to assess frame by frame and write detailed feedback, plus, I was having to do it all over again on their second video for free. It had turned into a full-time job with very little return, and to be honest, it had become joyless. So, I’ve made some changes…
Your first video submission isn’t a ‘let’s see how I get on the first time’ or ‘a test run’ kind of thing. It’s to show me that you’ve really studied and understood my training. That you’ve practised properly, and are now ready to demonstrate your technique with confidence and gain your accreditation.
Even though I allow a second video exam to be sent in free of charge if you fail, this is intended only for students who really tried their best in their first video, but didn’t quite reach the high standard I’m looking for. It’s for those who’ve taken on board my feedback and have improved and feel ready to pass.
If the first video shows you not demonstrating my technique, it will be an immediate fail. You will be allowed to send in a second video free of charge, but if you fail on the second one, another exam purchase will be needed. So, even more reason to make sure your first video follows the guidelines below - I really don’t want you spending more money.
Follow these TIPS before recording:
1. Choose one of my videos that you connect with most and use that one as your guide for filming.
2. Study that video carefully. Watch it over and over until you can follow every movement and understand exactly what I’m doing and why.
3. Practise off-camera until you feel completely confident. Don’t rush this part because good technique comes with repetition and focus.
4. When you’re ready to film, remember that I’m marking you on my technique and not how you usually wax. I need to see that you’ve taken the time to learn and replicate my technique accurately.
5. Don’t worry about being nervous. I can see straight through nerves. I’m not judging your confidence or composure. I don’t care if you drop wax or fumble, as that’s completely natural in an exam situation. You won’t lose marks for that.
What I AM looking for:
• Demonstrate my technique exactly: I need to see that you’ve learned and copied as closely as possible.
• Safety: Wax not too hot, handled with care.
• Stretching and supporting the skin: Exactly as I teach you in the course - the position of the stretch is crucial.
• Wax application: Direction, thickness, and placement.
• Wax removal: Technique, stretch, control, safety, and confidence.
What I’m NOT looking for:
I don’t need to see you cleansing the skin, trimming hair, or removing any stray hairs afterwards. The exam is to assess your waxing.
Once you purchase the exam, you’ll have clear instructions of what to film and how to send it in - please follow those carefully. You don’t need any fancy equipment - just film it on your phone.
Remember, I’m rooting for you to pass. The more care you take before pressing record, the smoother your assessment will go and the prouder you’ll feel when you achieve it.

Exam for Accreditation
Your video exam is to be submitted only once you’ve completed the Kim Lawless Online Masterclass and must be sent in within 365 days of enrolment or sooner if you feel ready. You will still have access to the masterclass for one year from enrolment after you’ve sent in your exam.
What I’m looking for
I make allowances for nerves so please don’t worry if you drop wax or suddenly get in a muddle, I see through all of that. What I’m looking for is common sense and confidence. When you’re applying and removing the wax, I need to see that you understand the importance of supporting the skin to protect your client from bruising or tearing. Most importantly, I need to see that you’ve studied my masterclass.
Exam Results
Allow up to 14 days for your results.
I’ll study your video in detail and make notes for feedback.
If you’ve PASSED, you’ll receive your Certificate and feedback.
If I don’t feel that I can give you a pass right away, I’ll give you feedback on the areas that you need to improve, and you can submit one more video exam within 3mths free of charge.
Storage of your video
Your video will be deleted, and it will never be shared with or seen by anyone other than me.
